Salzburg Weather

Salzburg is another of Austria's mountainous provinces, with high ranges providing the borders to the south, east and west. Only to the north and the border with Germany does the countryside flatten out into foothills, lakes and wider valleys.

The western edge of the province borders Tyrol, with the mountain ranges continuing into the highest of Austria in the Hohe Tauern National Park. Carinthia is located to the south, with Styria to the east and Upper Austria to the east and northeast.

The river valleys of the Saalach and Salzach have proved important transit routes through the province throughout its history and most of the important settlements in the province are located in or near one or other.

The highest point in Salzburg is the Grossvenediger in the Hohe Tauern National Park at 3674m
